Energy on the Campus
Energy on the Campus
On its university campus TU Delft aims to save energy (up to 30% in 2020 compared to 2009), use more sustainable energy (50% of all energy in 2020) and emit less CO2 (100% CO2-neutral in 2020). Several initiatives have been launched to reach these goals:
The Energy Monitor
The Energy Monitor shows per faculty and for the entire university how much electricity, gas and heat is used and how much CO2 is released. Visit the Energy Monitor.

The Green Campus

Full Professor Future Energy Systems and sustainable energy entrepreneur Ad van Wijk heads a team of scientists, students and companies working together to create the Green Campus. The Green Campus is a sustainable, lively and entrepreneurial campus where sustainable energy technology is developed, demonstrated and used real time. Read more about the Green Campus.
Intelligent street lighting
TU Delft is testing a new system of intelligent street lighting on the campus. The system, developed by a TU Delft alumnus, used up to 80% less electricity and is also cheaper to maintain. Read more about the project and watch the videos on how it works.
Campus Energy Challenge 2010
In 2010 the Campus Energy Challenge took place, a design and ideas contest for students to come up with ideas for a more sustainable use of energy on the university campus. Read more, watch the elevator pitches of the contestants and listen to podcasts with the organisers and winners.
